John Crome - Antique Radio Restorer

Antique Radio Restoration at the workbench - John Crome Over 60 years and still curious about the pleasure of sound and the mysterious manner of its arrival through the airways, John now repairs and restores antique radios.

Trained in the post-war era in England, John has now worked in the electronic industry for almost 50 years as an electronic engineering technician.

During his working career, he gained tremendous experience in the development, design, and maintenance of radio and sound systems with Canadian National Railway and CN-CP Telecommunications.

In the years prior to his retirement from the railway, he installed  and maintained some of the first train communication systems and radio microwave systems across Canada.

Since retiring from the railroad 10 years ago, he continues with his skill and interests by repairing and restoring vintage radios, specializing in models manufactured between 1930 and the mid 1960s.  John enjoys bringing these radios back to how they operated when they were originally manufactured.

John will also repair, restore and refinish the wooden furniture cabinets to look they way they did when they came out of the factory.
